Despite his father’s disapproval, he was determined to prove himself. John completed Basic Combat Training and was assigned to the Chemical Corps, where he trained in chemical detection and reconnaissance operations. He later deployed to Afghanistan, where he supported operations involving hazardous material assessment and field support. During his service, John developed a reputation as a capable but intense soldier. His aggressive, results-driven mindset made him effective in high-pressure situations, though it occasionally put him at odds with others. In 2005, he was exposed to a concentrated industrial solvent during a field operation, resulting in infertility. John continued his service until 2008, earning multiple commendations and rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged.
=== Return to Civilian Life (2008 - 2016) ===
Upon his return to Los Santos in 2008, John was received positively within the Redmond family. His military service and commendations were regarded as a source of pride, particularly given his attainment of the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his absence, significant developments had occurred within the family. In 2002, his sister Lily gave birth to a son, Victor Donovan. By the time John returned from military service, Victor was six years old and had developed a strong interest in his uncle’s military background. Victor reportedly admired John’s war stories in Afghanistan, and John actively encouraged this admiration. Over time, the two formed a close bond. Victor’s continued admiration and attention positioned John more prominently within Lily’s family circle and increased his influence in family interactions.
In 2006, the Redmond family also took in Jamie Evans. John, opposed the decision from Beth and expressed open skepticism regarding her presence in the family. Samuel likewise showed little interest in assuming personal responsibility for her upbringing, and both men reportedly regarded her presence as a potential liability to the family’s long-term interests.
==== Economic study and joining the underworld (2008 - 2014) ====
Shortly after his discharge, John enrolled in an economics program at a Los Santos university where his father, Samuel Redmond, served as a professor. He completed the degree program over four years, earning his qualification through consistent academic performance. Faculty evaluations described him as analytical, disciplined, and focused on applied economic strategy.
After completing his degree, John joined the Redmond Group in a formal capacity. Under Samuel’s supervision, he was gradually introduced to the operational and financial structure of the company. During this period, Samuel informed him that the corporation maintained entanglements within the criminal underworld and that he had longstanding connections with the M.A.N. Agency. In approximately 2014, John was formally introduced into the M.A.N. Agency and began operating in support of its activities. The Agency utilized his military background and specialized knowledge in chemical and CBRN operations for risk assessment, logistical planning, and operational support. He remained affiliated with the Agency until its eventual dissolution.
John eventually assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer of the Redmond Group, overseeing corporate strategy and internal operations while becoming increasingly aware of the dual nature of the company’s activities.
==== Dissolution of the M.A.N. Agency (2016) ====
In early 2016, the M.A.N. Agency was formally dissolved following internal power struggles and the activation of a dissolution clause by senior leadership. The decision fragmented the organization and resulted in the rapid loss of centralized control over its assets and operations. John, who had been operating within the Agency’s structure since 2014, was directly affected by the collapse.
The period coincided with the murder of his sister, Lily Redmond, in 2016. Her death had a significant personal impact on John and further narrowed his focus to his nephew Victor Donovan, with whom he already shared a close bond. Later, John figured out that Alexander Morrison, Samuel's rival was responsible for the death of Lily. He reported this information to his father, who subsequently ordered the assassination of Alexander.
After | After the assassination remaining loyal elements consolidated under Samuel Redmond’s direction. Due to increased instability, external threats from former associates and a large scale federal investigation, the Redmond Group reduced its overt exposure and entered a period of strategic concealment. Public operations continued through legitimate corporate channels, while internal restructuring was conducted discreetly to preserve remaining influence and assets.
During this period, John’s role within the Redmond Group expanded. As Chief Operating Officer, he assumed greater responsibility for operational security, internal consolidation, and long-term strategic positioning in the aftermath of the Agency’s dissolution.
=== Post Agency Realignment (2016 - 2023) ===
Following the dissolution of the M.A.N. Agency in 2016, the Redmond Group entered a prolonged period of strategic withdrawal. From 2016 onward, the organization significantly reduced its visible presence in Los Santos and avoided direct involvement in open power struggles within the local criminal landscape. Public-facing operations continued under legitimate corporate structures, while sensitive activities were compartmentalized and conducted through indirect channels. This marked the beginning of what internal sources later described as a ten-year concealment phase (2016–2026).
Between 2016 and 2020, John utilized his position as Chief Operating Officer to maintain and expand discreet international connections rather than rebuild local dominance. He focused on preserving leverage through transnational intermediaries and supply channels.
Documented contacts during this period included:
* Representatives of the Yakuza, including an associate identified as Kensuke, concerning logistics coordination and specialized procurement;
* Leaders of the Sánchez Cartel and former members of the M.A.N. Agency, specifically Pablo Sánchez and José Sánchez, in relation to supply routes and distribution frameworks;
* A German smuggler identified as Hans Naumann, who facilitated European transport corridors;
* Unnamed contacts within Russian political and industrial circles, used primarily for strategic intelligence exchange and economic positioning.
==== | ==== Emergence of Alexa Morrison (2021) ====
In | In early 2021, Alexa Morrison, daughter of Alexander Morrison, formally entered the Los Santos underworld. After uncovering details regarding her father’s involvement in the former M.A.N. Agency and the circumstances surrounding his death, she established Alexa Inc., later rebranded as Liberty Exports. Initially operating from Hawick, the company expanded into La Mesa and Cypress Flats through warehouse acquisitions and logistics infrastructure.
The Redmond Group conducted internal assessments of Liberty Exports’ rapid expansion, particularly due to its activity in Cypress Flats and La Mesa—areas historically connected to Redmond logistics operations. Intelligence indicated that Liberty Exports functioned as a logistics front supporting illicit distribution.
Despite this territorial overlap, John and Samuel Redmond chose not to intervene. Direct confrontation was assessed as strategically unsound during the concealment phase. Liberty Exports’ consolidation of territory following the Cypress Flats Massacre was documented internally but not challenged.
==== Formation of a new threat (2022–2023) ====
In late 2022, Alexa formed operational partnerships with Billy McBardigael and Jim, resulting in a coordinated collective often referred to as the Locals. Billy provided infrastructure support and transport coordination, while Jim managed armed operations from Del Perro. In 2023, Edward McHaggis was brought into Los Santos and established operations in Rancho, further strengthening the network. Over time, these figures became recognized as a dominant mid-tier syndicate within the city.
Throughout 2022 and 2023, the Redmond Group maintained surveillance and intelligence analysis of these developments. Internal briefings classified Morrison’s network as an organized and rapidly scaling entity with increasing territorial cohesion. However, consistent with its concealment strategy, the Redmond Group refrained from overt engagement.
By the end of 2023, Los Santos’ criminal hierarchy had shifted significantly, with Liberty Exports and its allied figures occupying territory once influenced by the remnants of the M.A.N. Agency. Their alliance would be named the infamous Big Four. Under John’s oversight, the Redmond Group continued long-term positioning and intelligence collection, remaining publicly inactive while preparing for eventual re-entry into the city’s power structure prior to the events that would unfold in early 2024.
== Events of the GTA RP ==
=== First Paleto Crisis ===
At the outset of the First Paleto Crisis, the Redmond Group did not publicly involve itself in the emerging conflict in Paleto Bay. However, John authorized an anonymous tip to the intelligence to Jim regarding the emergence of a new competitor in the region. This information concerned the formation of the Bay Rebels under Damian Morrison.
=== | The communication was structured to avoid traceability and did not reveal Redmond involvement. The objective was to destabilize potential competitors indirectly while maintaining plausible deniability. The Redmond Group did not participate in direct operations during the crisis.
=== Interbellum === | |||
During the Interbellum period, the Redmond Group maintained a strictly observational posture. Intelligence units monitored the entrance of Giuseppe Marcano and the early positioning of the Marcano Mob within Los Santos. No direct financial or operational interference was recorded during this short phase. John assessed the situation as a transitional power shift not requiring immediate intervention.
=== Yakuza Interference ===
During the Yakuza Interference arc, John leveraged his pre-existing contact with Oyabun Kensuke. Acting through indirect channels, he provided intelligence indicating that Luciana McHaggis, wife of Edward McHaggis, was located in Italy while elements of the Marcano Mob remained active within the United States. With this information, the Yakuza kidnapped Luciana who would later be murdered by Yakuza shatei's in Japan.
The communication was calculated to create external pressure on Edward without exposing Redmond involvement. The intent was not territorial expansion but strategic destabilization of emerging syndicate cohesion. The Redmond Group did not deploy personnel or assets directly within Los Santos during this period.
=== Second Paleto Crisis ===
At the beginning of the Second Paleto Crisis, John again utilized anonymous intelligence channels. The Redmond Group transmitted information to Jim indicating that Damian Morrison had arrived at Los Santos International Airport and was later sighted at Hill Haven Church Graveyard in Rockford Hills.
This intelligence accelerated confrontation between the Bay Rebels and opposing syndicates. As with prior interventions, the information was structured to prevent attribution to the Redmond Group.
In addition, the Redmond Group provided silent logistical assistance to the Bay Rebels during later stages of the conflict. This support included discreet procurement facilitation and indirect assistance related to the return of Captain Cash. These actions were conducted through intermediaries and front channels to maintain concealment.
Throughout these events, John’s involvement remained strategic rather than operational. The Redmond Group did not publicly reassert dominance, instead testing influence through selective information control and indirect leverage within the evolving power structure of Los Santos.
=== Yakuza Crisis === | |||
During the Yakuza Crisis, John expanded his indirect interference strategy. Drawing on intelligence surrounding what later became known as the Naumann Affair, he anonymously tipped Yakuza elements about the safehouse location of Hans Naumann. The disclosure intensified pressure on Hans and contributed to the destabilization of existing smuggling channels in Los Santos.
After Hans fled the city, the Redmond Group reestablished contact with him through European intermediaries. Rather than severing ties, John redirected Hans toward external operations. The Group discreetly informed him of a lucrative Russian contract involving the planned extraction of Bashar Al-Assad. This maneuver simultaneously removed Hans from the immediate Los Santos power structure and repositioned him within a sphere more advantageous to Redmond geopolitical interests.
=== Ron and Archie Plot (Cop Interference) ===
During the period of increased law enforcement scrutiny, the Redmond Group covertly intervened in the investigation led by Archie Calloway. John, through Redmond channels anonymously tipped Archie regarding an object of interest located at Damian Morrison’s former arcade, Pixel Pete’s in Paleto Bay. The object in question was a case file containing sensitive information related to syndicate activity.
Archie obtained and copied the file. Separately, John discreetly informed his brother-in-law, Special FIB Agent Jack Donovan, about Archie Calloway’s investigative activities and procedural exploits. Jack was not aware of the true origin of the intelligence. This information flow allowed Archie to pass the copied case file to Jack through what appeared to be independent discovery, increasing federal awareness while concealing Redmond orchestration.
The Redmond Group did not participate in the subsequent elimination of the officers but had already ensured the controlled dissemination of information prior to the operation.
=== The Great Breakup ===
During the internal collapse of the Big Four alliance, John and Samuel Redmond selectively supported destabilizing elements. As tensions escalated between Edward McHaggis, Billy McBardigael, and the emerging Alamo Hellraisers, the Redmond Group facilitated discreet weapon procurement for the breakaway faction. They also recommended Hans Naumann as a potential logistical contact, reintroducing him into the equation under controlled circumstances.
John additionally provided Aiden Reed, acting as de facto leader of the Alamo Hellraisers, with intelligence regarding Billy McBardigael’s location. This information intensified internal fractures within the former alliance. With Billy having a change of heart, the Redmond Group noticed that the Big Four had officially collapsed due to infighting.
Simultaneously, John used separate intelligence channels to anonymously tip Edward’s faction regarding the whereabouts of Jack and Wallace, two members who had defected to the Hellraisers. One of these disclosures ultimately contributed to the assassination of Wallace at Hookies, an operation in which Jeffrey Cooper played a direct role.
Through parallel information leaks to opposing factions, the Redmond Group ensured that no single syndicate emerged dominant from the breakup. John’s involvement remained concealed throughout, reinforcing the Redmond strategy of influence through controlled destabilization rather than direct confrontation.
=== Return of the Smuggler ===
In March 2025, during the events later associated with the return of Hans Naumann, John transitioned from indirect manipulation to limited direct coordination. On an unspecified date in March, John provided Hans with a secure landing location for his B-11 Strikeforce aircraft, ensuring an uncontested arrival within San Andreas airspace.
Subsequently, Samuel Redmond utilized established contacts within the Sánchez Cartel to structure a smuggling arrangement between Hans and cartel representatives. The agreement facilitated renewed narcotics distribution and arms logistics, temporarily destabilizing pricing structures across Los Santos.
John later supplied Hans with intelligence regarding Marty Marcano’s presence at the Darnell Brothers garment factory. Hans requested direct participation from John in a planned abduction operation. John agreed. Hans, members of the Sánchez Cartel, and John coordinated the kidnapping of Marty at the factory location. During the apprehension, John physically assaulted Marty, including a forceful kick to the abdomen that temporarily incapacitated him and assisted in subduing the target.
In parallel, John leveraged financial channels connected to Liberty Exports. Using contact with Alexa Morrison’s financial manager, Greg Vanderbilt, he discreetly relayed information indicating that drug prices were artificially lowering and that activity in Grapeseed and at McKenzie Airfield warranted investigation. This communication redirected attention toward Hans’s expanding operations while preserving Redmond deniability. Beyond these initial actions, the Redmond Group adopted a strictly observational posture and did not directly influence the subsequent conflict between Hans and the involved syndicates.
==== Transfer of Victor Donovan ====
Three months after the Return of the Smuggler arc, Hans Naumann entered into a weapons export arrangement with the Alamo Hellraisers. As part of the agreement, he independently negotiated the transfer of John's nephew Victor Donovan into his custody. The Redmond Group was unaware that Victor was being held prior to this exchange.
After securing Victor, Hans directly informed John of the transfer. John reacted furiously on the phone against Hans, threatening to kill him and chop him on in little pieces. In response, Hans stated that Victor would not be harmed but trained, and famously said:<blockquote>"If you want the pretty boy back, you'll have give me a much better deal with the Hellraisers, Johnny. I'm going to teach him the ways of the Smuggler and I'll show him to be a man, unlike his father. For the forseeing future, er gehört mir!" - Hans Naumann during a phone call with John Redmond</blockquote>The Redmond Group didn't immediately act, as Hans was not going to torture him but instead train him. John had a emergency meeting with Samuel Redmond after the phone call, about Hans and the state of Victor. Samuel Redmond mentioned that they didn't want to blow their cover yet and that he would monitor Hans and Victor. In early 2026, Samuel Redmond would sent John directly to Morocco to bargain for Victor.

John Samuel Redmond, more commonly known as John Redmond is the Chief Operation Officer of the Redmond Group and Staff Seargent of the United States Chemical Corps. John is the son of Samuel Redmond and Beth Redmond, the brother of Lily Redmond and Mátyás Redmond-Vizsla. He is also the uncle of Victor Donovan, the brother-in-law of Jack Donovan and cousin of Jamie Evans.
Early life (1983 - 2000)
John Redmond was born in 1983 in Los Santos as the first child of Samuel and Beth Redmond. He was raised in a financially secure and structured household supported by the Redmond Group, the family’s corporate enterprise. His upbringing emphasized discipline, performance, and reputation.
From an early age, John was known for his intensity and strong temperament. He was observant and intelligent, but also prone to bursts of anger when challenged or frustrated. While he could present himself well in structured environments, those close to him recognized that he struggled with controlling his impulses.
Birth of Lily Redmond and behavior concerns (1985 - 1991)
When John was two years old, his sister Lily was born. While he did not initially show much outward affection, he quickly developed a deeply ingrained sense of responsibility toward her. This grew into a strong protectiveness. John viewed Lily as someone who had to be looked after, and he reacted aggressively toward anyone he perceived as disrespecting or threatening her.
As John grew older, patterns of behavioral issues became more apparent. He was involved in repeated conflicts with other children and demonstrated aggressive conduct, particularly when he felt disrespected or challenged. There were documented instances of property damage during episodes of anger. When confronted, John often justified his actions rather than deflecting responsibility.
Despite this, he demonstrated strong social awareness and the ability to present himself appropriately to authority figures. Teachers often described him as articulate and capable, particularly in formal or academic settings. His social relationships were limited but not absent, typically centered around shared activities rather than emotional closeness.
Adoption of Mátyás Vizsla (1995)
When John was 13 years old, Samuel Redmond adopted Mátyás Vizsla after the death of the boy’s father, a long-time academic contact of Samuel from Hungary. Mátyás took the surname Redmond-Vizsla and was brought to Los Santos to live with the family.
John’s reaction to the adoption was initially uncertain. He found the situation strange and struggled to understand why someone outside the immediate family was being brought into their home. At first, he kept his distance and observed Mátyás cautiously. Over time, however, this skepticism faded, and the two grew closer. Their relationship gradually developed into a bond built on familiarity and shared experience, eventually resembling that of true brothers.
Education and Adolescence (1996 - 2000)
Throughout the 1990s, John attended private academis in Los Santos. He performed well academically, especially in analytical subjects such as mathematics and especially chemistry. He participated in structured extracurricular activities, including debate, American football and student leadership programs. John completed his private secondary education in 2001 at the age of eighteen. By that time, he had developed a reputation as a disciplined and academically capable student, though socially reserved.
Military Career (2001 - 2008)
Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, John Redmond chose to enlist in the United States Army rather than pursue university education.
Return to Civilian Life (2008 - 2016)
Upon his return to Los Santos in 2008, John was received positively within the Redmond family.
Economic study and joining the underworld (2008 - 2014)
Dissolution of the M.A.N. Agency (2016)
After the assassination remaining loyal elements consolidated under Samuel Redmond’s direction.
Post Agency Realignment (2016 - 2023)
- Representatives of the Yakuza, including an associate identified as Kensuke, concerning logistics coordination and specialized procurement;
- Leaders of the Sánchez Cartel and former members of the M.A.N. Agency, specifically Pablo Sánchez and José Sánchez, in relation to supply routes and distribution frameworks;
- A German smuggler identified as Hans Naumann, who facilitated European transport corridors;
- Unnamed contacts within Russian political and industrial circles, used primarily for strategic intelligence exchange and economic positioning.
Emergence of Alexa Morrison (2021)
In early 2021, Alexa Morrison, daughter of Alexander Morrison, formally entered the Los Santos underworld.
Formation of a new threat (2022–2023)
Events of the GTA RP
First Paleto Crisis
At the outset of the First Paleto Crisis, the Redmond Group did not publicly involve itself in the emerging conflict in Paleto Bay. However, John authorized an anonymous tip to the intelligence to Jim regarding the emergence of a new competitor in the region. This information concerned the formation of the Bay Rebels under Damian Morrison.
The communication was structured to avoid traceability and did not reveal Redmond involvement. The objective was to destabilize potential competitors indirectly while maintaining plausible deniability. The Redmond Group did not participate in direct operations during the crisis.
Interbellum
During the Interbellum period, the Redmond Group maintained a strictly observational posture. Intelligence units monitored the entrance of Giuseppe Marcano and the early positioning of the Marcano Mob within Los Santos. No direct financial or operational interference was recorded during this short phase. John assessed the situation as a transitional power shift not requiring immediate intervention.
Yakuza Interference
Second Paleto Crisis
Yakuza Crisis
Ron and Archie Plot (Cop Interference)
The Great Breakup
Return of the Smuggler
Transfer of Victor Donovan
Three months after the Return of the Smuggler arc, Hans Naumann entered into a weapons export arrangement with the Alamo Hellraisers. As part of the agreement, he independently negotiated the transfer of John's nephew Victor Donovan into his custody. The Redmond Group was unaware that Victor was being held prior to this exchange.
After securing Victor, Hans directly informed John of the transfer. John reacted furiously on the phone against Hans, threatening to kill him and chop him on in little pieces. In response, Hans stated that Victor would not be harmed but trained, and famously said:
"If you want the pretty boy back, you'll have give me a much better deal with the Hellraisers, Johnny. I'm going to teach him the ways of the Smuggler and I'll show him to be a man, unlike his father. For the forseeing future, er gehört mir!" - Hans Naumann during a phone call with John Redmond
The Redmond Group didn't immediately act, as Hans was not going to torture him but instead train him.
