Samuel Redmond is married to Beth Redmond. He is the father of John Redmond and Lily Redmond, the adoptive father of Jamie Evans, and the adoptive father of an unnamed son. Through Lily Redmond, he is the father-in-law of Jack Donovan and the grandfather of Victor Donovan.

    Early life/education

    [edit | edit source]

Samuel Redmond was born on July 23, 1964 in Los Santos to a middle-class family with strong socialist values. His family emphasized collective responsibility, workers’ rights, and social equity.

Samuel Redmond’s paternal family traced its origins to Ireland. This heritage formed part of the family’s identity and informed their views on labor, class, and historical inequality.

Samuel Redmond’s father was employed as a factory worker in Los Santos. Through his father, Samuel Redmond was exposed at an early age to industrial labor conditions, including unsafe environments, long working hours, and limited worker protections. These experiences played a significant role in shaping Samuel Redmond’s interest in justice, equality, and improved working conditions.

Samuel Redmond pursued higher education with a focus on labor economics, labor law, and industrial relations. He developed an academic interest in collective bargaining, workforce organization, and the interaction between labor institutions and economic power.

Samuel Redmond completed postgraduate studies and earned a doctorate, establishing himself as a specialist in labor systems, regulatory structures, and union dynamics.

During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Samuel Redmond taught labor economics and labor law as a graduate instructor and later as a lecturer while completing postgraduate studies. In the mid-1990s, he was appointed assistant professor in labor economics and labor law. His academic work focused on unions, employment contracts, regulatory compliance, and mechanisms through which labor could be mobilized or restrained at scale.

In 1989, while teaching as a graduate instructor and lecturer, Samuel Redmond met Beth Evans, who was employed as a cleaner at the university. At the time, Samuel Redmond was 25 years old. Beth Evans was approximately four to six years younger than Samuel Redmond. Their relationship developed discreetly during this period and became romantic despite their differing professional positions. John Redmond was conceived in 1989. Samuel Redmond and Beth Evans later married.

During this period, Samuel Redmond became the father of his first child, John Redmond. Approximately two years later, his daughter Lily Redmond was born. Samuel Redmond continued to balance academic work with family life during this time.

While operating within academic environments, Samuel Redmond became professionally acquainted with Alexander Morrison, a colleague in the economics faculty. Although both shared academic credentials, their positions differed sharply on market regulation, labor authority, and the role of capital. These ideological differences defined their professional interactions.
