Emilia Maria Santangelo, commonly known as Emily Santangelo is an upcoming character in the GTA RP. Emily was born in Liberty City in 2003 to David Santangelo and his wife. Her father was an Italian-American former United States Navy serviceman who worked in automotive maintenance, restoration, and painting after leaving the military. Her mother had an interest in fashion and worked with sewing and clothing alterations.
Emily was raised in a working-class household with a Roman Catholic upbringing, largely influenced by her father's religious beliefs. She was baptized Emilia Maria Santangelo, although her family generally referred to her as Emily from an early age.
Her nickname originated from her father's admiration for the British rock band Pink Floyd, particularly their 1967 song *See Emily Play*. David was a devoted admirer of the band's music, and Emily grew up listening to their records. She eventually developed an appreciation for the band herself.
Emily maintained a close relationship with both parents. Her father introduced her to cars, motorcycles, painting, and basic mechanical work, while her mother encouraged her interest in fashion, sewing, and clothing customization.
David died in 2020 after contracting COVID-19. Emily's mother subsequently became her primary source of support until her own death in 2024. Following the loss of both parents, Emily left Liberty City and relocated to Los Santos in 2025.
Personality / morality
Emily Santangelo is generally characterized as independent, intelligent, creative, and somewhat rebellious. She possesses a dry sense of humor and frequently uses sarcasm when interacting with other people. Although she can initially appear distant or dismissive, her behavior tends to change considerably around individuals with whom she becomes comfortable.
Emily is particularly wary of unfamiliar people who behave authoritatively or attempt to involve themselves in her personal affairs. She dislikes being told what to do and can become stubborn when she believes someone is trying to control or patronize her. She also tends to avoid discussing her financial difficulties, substance use, or family circumstances, frequently deflecting personal questions through jokes or sarcastic remarks.
Despite her occasionally abrasive manner, Emily is capable of considerable compassion and affection.
