After settling into Paleto Bay, Giuseppe handed Marty his first real test. Due to conflicting obligations, Giuseppe asked Marty to attend a syndicate meeting in Hawick on his behalf. The request was simple—Marty only had to give an update on the situation in Paleto Bay.

Despite not fully understanding the gravity of the situation, Marty agreed. When he arrived at the meeting location, Edward McHaggis greeted him and escorted him inside. Marty looked completely out of place—under-dressed and sporting choppy, uncouth hair. Inside, Billy was already seated at the meeting table. The last to arrive was a striking blonde woman, around Marty’s age. This was [[Alexa Morrison]].

The moment she walked in, Marty was awestruck—though he tried to keep his cool, he was clearly taken by her presence. During the meeting, he gave his update on Paleto Bay while Alexa largely ignored him, seeing him as just another family envoy of Giuseppe. After the meeting, as the others were leaving, Marty leaned toward Edward and said with a smirk, "One day, she will be mine." Amused, Edward replied that if he managed it, he’d give him $20,000.

Roughly a week later, fate struck again. Giuseppe was arrested by police and subsequently deported due to visa issues. On the same day, Marty was pulled over for speeding, and to his surprise, the arresting officer revealed himself as [[Officer Dingleberry|Shayla Dingleberry’s father]]. The confrontation was tense. However, Officer Dingleberry ultimately let Marty go, acknowledging that he “probably changed.”

Shaken but free, Marty returned home only to find his father not there. He called his father. Giuseppe, speaking from Italy who informed him he was deported and told him that until he returned, Marty would be responsible for overseeing operations in Paleto Bay. Whether ready or not, Marty had just inherited the reins of the Marcano Mob’s northern expansion.
